Team Challenge 01: Event Report

The Team Challenge on May 2^nd 2008 between Team Evolution and Team Outlook turned out to be a lot of fun for everyone.  Furious dueling was had by all as the wins went back and forth from team to team and most matches going to a third game to decide the win kept everyone playing until late that night. In the end it was Team Outlook leaving with the win just after midnight. Everyone had a great time and we must say that Team Outlook with its zany behavior and superior card skills (this time!) will always be welcome at The Wizards Duel.

The format for the challenge was a "ladder" style team match with one member of each team representing at a time until defeated and then replaced by the next member on his team until that member gets defeated and so on.  Last man standings team would win.

Team Outlook arrived in style sporting their trademark burger king cardboard crowns for the 7pm showdown. Cookies and soda were laid out for munchies to get us through the battles to come and the dueling began!

In Match 1 Mitch Bowe beat David Rowell putting Outlook in the lead (this is the only match that the camera decided we would have no picture for sorry guys. All the other matches are shown in sequence.) Then Zack Pollara tied the situation up again by defeating Mitch Bowe in the second match. Tyler Shafer moved in real strong for Outlook taking two matches in a row! Tyler defeated both Zack and then Chad Hayden. Chad made a great showing for the team but it just seemed like no one was going to beat Tyler! Then Brendan Kent happened. Brendan not only took two matches in a row from Team Outlook but received actual respect from all onlookers for his stony demeanor and professional play skills as he mowed down both Tyler and then Isaac Levin tying the match up again. But apparently all good things do come to an end because Ryan Bregoli will apparently put a stop to them! Ryan began a winning streak of his own by defeating Brendan and then Joel Dixon putting Outlook back in the lead and Evolution on the ropes.  In comes Ceasar Rizk for Team Evolution and despite the enthusiasm of Team Outlook for Ryan's unbeatable skills Ceasar emerges the winner.  Cheering on Ceasar as their last hope (and player) Team Evolution hoped Ceasar could do what no one else tonight had done … win three matches in a row. Ceasar would have to defeat Mike Schoefild and then Adam Donahue to give Evolution the win. And then Mike Schofield put an end to this team challenge by defeating Ceasar in game three of a very tough match.  So Team Outlook emerged victorious, took their chocolate cake for winning and headed home with their reputation of winning "bazillions" of team events intact.
